Commonwealth Games 2010: women’s 100m winner Osayemi Oludamola fails drugs test

The Nigerian Athleat in question in this Telegraph Article should be stripped of her Commenwealth Gold and banned from competing, regardless if the banned substance is found in prescription drugs and some cooking oils.  When you know that you are going to compete in a major event you should refrain from using anything that can potentially contain a banned substance.

Commonwealth Games 2010: Ill swimmers force pool probe

This BBC Sport Article shows yet more incompetence at the Commonwealth Games as the Indian Organizers can not even manage to make the water in the Practice Pool safe for the swimmers, at least the Commonwealth Games Federation have grown a spine and are looking into the matter of swimmers falling ill with a stomach bug after using the practice pool.

Also further down in the article they report that officials of the Ugandan team were injured in their vehicle after the tyre killer security device rose and hit their vehicle as they were entering the athletes village after the radio frequency reader failed to read the sticker on their vehicle as they were entering the village.

Commonwealth Games 2010: Venue ‘ready’ for athletics

After reading this Article on the BBC News website it makes me wonder how much the organizers of the Games actually paid to have the venues built as the Opening Ceremony shouldn’t have damaged the Athletics track in  the main Stadium.  It looks like the Games are going to be in crisis all the way to it’s conclusion on the 14th of October.  This is yet another problem that highlights the total incompetence of the Delhi organizers and the Commonwealth Games Federation.

Commonwealth Games 2010: Delhi Commonwealth Games begin

After reading this Article on the BBC Sport website the Commonwealth Games Opening ceremony went smoothley and all 71 competing countries participated in the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony may have gone smoothely but according to this Article on the BBC Sport website the official weigh-in for the Boxing competition has turned into a farce and has been put back until Tuesday after complaints that the test scales used were faulty after several fighters were left having to shed weight to reach there desired category.  The scales will be recalibrated for the weigh-in to take place on the opening morning of the bouts.

It looks like the Games crisis will continue for a bit longer even though the Opening Ceremony went well.

It looks like I’ll be able to Blog on the Games crisis for a bit longer, hopefully I will be able to Blog more positively about the Games before they come to an end on the 14th of October.

Commonwealth Games 2010: Scotland seeking security clarity ahead of opening ceremony

After reading this article on the telegraph website today the Commonwealth Games in Delhi still looks to be in crisis a day before the Opening Ceremony is due to take place as four Commonwealth Countries including Scotland and the Isle of Man, have sought assurances about logistics and some security matters before committing to participating in the Opening Ceremony on Sunday.

With all the problems that have been in the news leading up to the Games I can’t help but wonder if all of this will have damaged the credibility of the Commonwealth Games in the future.

Lets hope that the Games run without any serious incidents and the credibility of the Commonwealth Games Federation my be saved.

Commonwealth Games 2010: Concerns ‘not heeded’

This BBC Sport article is a load of Bull. If the warnings of the Commonwealth Games Federation had not been heeded by the Delhi Organizing Committee then the Commonwealth Games Federation should have stepped in and forced the Organizers in Delhi to do a proper job and make sure that everything is safe.

If there is a serious accident caused by poor workmanship are the Commonwealth Games Federation going to shrug off the criticism and say that there was nothing that they could do to prevent a serious accident as they have to let the Organizing Committee have to have some say in how the work is done.

If countries like India don’t like outsiders from telling them what to do and how fast to do it then they should not submit a bid to host the event.  The  Commonwealth Games Federation need to take action and accept any criticism that may come there way in the event of a serious accident occurring due to them not making sure that the  work has been done to a satisfactory level, they after all are the governing body of the Commonwealth Games.

Commonwealth Games 2010 in crisis (Follow up)

This is just a quick post to say that my post about the 2010 Commonwealth Games being in crisis that I posted yesterday has been posted on this site in it’s entirety.  It would have been nice for the site owners to have posted a working link to my Blog post instead of the URL, but it’s still nice to get a little recognition for my work as it’s just a hobby for me (anything that distracts my from reading Stephen Kings IT that I purchased from can’t be bad).  I’ve been trying to get into blogging for ages and recognition for my work is good inspiration for me to continue Blogging even though I don’t seem to get many comments on my posts, I mostly get people viewing them and no comments oh well it’s not going to stop me Blogging as I like to get things off my chest.

Normal Blogging will resume as soon as I’ve got a new subject lol.

Cheers
