Site Visual Re-Design (Update 2)

New Banner With Description

I’ve started to implement a visual re-design of the site, Phase one & two is the new custom banner instead of the Google Chromebook banner that I was using before. This new banner was supposed to be my Laptop Wallpaper hence it’s got the site URL on it but I decided to make it into the site banner and incorporated the site title under the url and just above the WordPress badge, the banner was created on my Acer C720 Chromebook using Microsoft PowerPoint Online to build the design, then I used the Gallery App in Chrome OS to Crop the image down to banner size.

Phase two which was implemented just after Phase one as implementing Phase two at a later date would have made the site look a little cluttered, so I got rid of the header text as it’s no longer needed  with the banner now having the site name incorporated.

Phase three is now live which replaced the new banner with an updated one that has the site description incorporated down the left hand side, with space down the right hand side should it be needed in the future along with a bit of space on the description if I need to had anything to the description in the future.

Phase four has also been implemented in the form of replacing the very temporary repeating Apple background with a plain but shaded blue background that is in keeping with the background colour of the banner. I feel that this background will stick with the site until I ever decide to give the site a visual makeover again in the future.

Phase five went live this evening after I revealed the new banner and sports genre this afternoon and the first Article in this genre will be tomorrow or Wednesday.

Phase six, phase seven and phase eight involve evolution of the banner. These three banner evolutions are ready for if they need implementing. Phase six and seven don’t have a set banner to be launched when needed, but since phase eight is a mix of both phase six and seven then that’ll be the last of the banners to be launched.

I’d  still like to change the theme colours to something that goes with the visual feel of the site as it currently is or will be in the future, but $30 a year for the customization upgrade seems a little steep when I’ll not be using the full set of features in the upgrade.

This will be my final phase and update of the Re-Design until I can introduce phase six.

Comment, favourite or both if you like what I’ve got planned for the site look.

New Sports Genre Being Added To Site Soon

New Banner With Description

This will just be a short article to compliment my Site Visual Re-Design series, and as discussed in my Site Visual Re-Design (Update) Article earlier today I’ll be introducing a new banner this evening in preparation for my first Article under the new sports genre that I’ll be doing possibly tomorrow or Wednesday.

There is a preview of the new banner at the top of this Article and shows that the new sports genre will be British Ice Hockey.

I’ll have a further update to my Site Visual Re-Design tonight after I’ve implemented the new banner.

I feel that this background will stick with the site until I ever decide to give the site a visual makeover again in the future.

Phase five might get introduced at the same time as phase six or just before phase six depending and will be an update of my current banner, but adding a new category to the site description as I’ll be branching the site out to a very specific sports genre on or just before the 30th of August so the banner might go live a few days before my first Article in the genre or a few hours before as I would like to introduce the sports genre in a special Article before my first official Article in the genre.

Phase six, phase seven and phase eight involve evolution of the banner. These three banner evolutions are ready for if they need implementing. The repeating Apple Logo background is a temporary change while I come up with a new custom background.

Phase three and four aren’t definite yet but one is going to be incorporating the description text from the old site header into the site banner and the other is going to be possibly change the wallpaper but it’s going to take some time to design the right wallpaper for the site so a wallpaper change might just be ether to a flat colour as a long-term solution while I come up with the perfect custom wallpaper or just have a series of temporary wallpapers or find a long-term wallpaper until I get the right permanent one.

I’d like to change the theme colours to something that goes with the visual feel of the site as it currently is or will be in the future, but $30 a year for the customization upgrade seems a little steep when I’ll not be using the full set of features in the upgrade.

There Might Be A Lack Of Posts For A While

Due to starting a house move on Wednesday that needs to be completed by the 17th of February there might be a lot less in the way of new posts for at least 2 weeks and my living with the Acer C720 For A Month series will not be receiving any new posts to it until the 24th of February at the earliest when I’ll do the Conclusion post.

Sorry for any inconvenience that this will cause and normal service will resume on the 24th of February at the earliest.

New Blog Forum

ProBoards Logo

I’ve just set up a forum that is based around the Blog, but it’ll be a place for discussion on things that’s not covered in the Blog as well.

This will be the second time that I’ve set up a forum for the Blog and hopefully it’ll generate more users than my last attempt that failed to generate one user other than my admin account.

You can find the forum here: http://rolandsblog.proboards.com/
